Being a creative business owner means balancing a lot of different tasks. From managing the behind the scenes, sending invoices, trying our best to understand taxes, and of course – being creative 24/7.
There are a ton of resources out there that can be found online, but I’m a firm believer that there is nothing more inspiring and motivating than having a really good physical copy of a book in hand.
If you’re ever feeling in a slump, or feeling extremely unmotivated about creative work or business in general – I highly recommend going to your fave bookstore (currently writing this from my local Barnes & Noble cafe) and browsing the creative, business, art, and magazine section. Obviously there are no books off the table, but these categories can really get you amped up and ready to dive into business like never before.
I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite books that get me re-inspired and ready to be my absolute best for the success of my business.
Enjoy!
I picked this book up because I’ve been looking for something that had answers to a lot of my questions about finances and business legalities in general. I run my business, and my husband also has his own business – so we need all the insight and education we can get.
This book makes reading about the boring side of running a business a lot more fun and empowering.
This book is great to have on hand whenever you need that pop of inspiration when creating for clients or just making art for fun. I pull this one off my shelf for so many different projects.
This is a great book about how to think and live like a designer. So it takes the way creative brains work in life, and breaks down the art of creating your dream life in a way that makes sense to our creative brains. It’s a great inspiration for both building a business and just building your dream life in general.
If you’re in some serious need of getting motivated about your relationship with money, I HIGHLY suggest this book. It’s a great balance of relatable life stories, and advice on how to get your mindset right when it comes to how you think about and manifest money into your life.
These are just a few of my favorite books to read whenever I need guidance, inspiration, or some new insight on different topics that come up while running a creative business. I hope you find it useful and would love to hear if you’ve read any of these!
